With the support of our leadership team and peers, our people are encouraged to share their perspectives.Job PurposeFitters are responsible for assembly, fitting, installation, and fabrication of metal components for various structures and products. Responsibilities:

  • Display a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.
  • Assemble and fit metal section and plate to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, or other methods.
  • Lay out reference points and patterns according to component specifications.
  • Grind, stamp, cut and drill material.
  • Conduct housekeeping and general cleanup.
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and ask questions.
  • Complete tasks with minimal errors, rejections and NCR’s.
  • Ensure that all non-conformances are reported and that the shop, where applicable, maintains the integrity of quality standards.
  • Follow and documents established procedures.
  • Report personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtains medical attention as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
  • CWB Transferable Welder Qualification (including Tack Welder).
  • Basic Rigging Course an asset
  • FLHA Training an asset
  • Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset
  • WHMIS

Working ConditionsThe incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise.Physical RequirementsThe incumbent is required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.*Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted.
