· Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work or Humanities· Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth.· Experience in leading and running groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy and job-searching skills.· Initiative and a strong work ethic· Strong team-work skills as well as the ability to work independently and with low supervision.· Critical thinking skills· Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel· Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed)· Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search· Three professional referencesWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include:· Work part-time, year-round, in two dynamic programs (YMAP and Infinity) offering support and positive experiences for high school and post-secondary students· Independently deliver after-school sessions in-person and online three days each week from October to June for youth with a wide variety of English levels, with some weekends as needed· Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August.· Adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans to meet student needs.· Deliver topics including self-esteem, healthy relationships, philanthropy, using Calgary transit, resume writing, global initiatives, and cultural awareness.· Work within a team of YMAP Coordinators.· Help organize special events for youth.· Recruit participants through in-school presentations and one-on-one interviews· Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, and program impact stories.· Support program evaluation.· Provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed.· Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations.· Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community.· Ensure a clean and safe work environment.· Be based out of the Melcor YMCA at CrowfootWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
