The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Charge or delegate, the General Duty Technologist is responsible for the performance of routine laboratory procedures, quality control, and record keeping. The General Duty Technologist is also responsible for performing histocompatibility testing on solid organ transplants. The General Duty Technologist also assists in general lab projects such as SOPs, chemical inventories, etc.Experience
- One-year recent related experience preferred.
- Ability to perform immunological laboratory procedures such as Flow Cytometry Assays, Molecular Biology techniques, serological assays including HLA cross-matching, solid phase HLA, antibody screening/specificity testing and analysis, and tissue culture techniques preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program with attained certification by the C.S.M.L.S.
- Advanced academic achievement in histocompatibility and immunogenetics (AFTD (B), CHA or CHT) must be obtained within 24 months of assuming position.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Current licensing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.
- Current registration with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
- Microsoft Office programs preferred.
- Immunology courses an asset.
- Good analytical skills.
- Work under pressure.
- Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Good visual and aural acuity, and manual dexterity required.
