Job Description: Your Opportunity:The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) II position reports to the Care Manager of the Learning & Development (L&D) clinic in the Children, Youth, and Families, Addiction and Mental Health (CYF AMH), Community Addiction and Mental Health Services portfolio. The SLP II will contribute to the comprehensive assessment of children and youth presenting with neurodevelopmental concerns, including learning difficulties, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder, among others. The SLP II provides intervention services related to speech, language, and swallowing (i.e., prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, partner training, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral, and transition support) to children, youth, and their families as part of the L&D clinic. This position collaborates with children, youth, and families, as well as internal and external partners in determining, implementing, and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. The SLP II participates in a multidisciplinary team, along with psychiatrists, development pediatricians, nursing, mental health therapists, behavioural specialists, social workers, and occupational therapists to build awareness, enrich supports, and partner with others to advance services for their clients. The SLP contributes to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and may supervise students.Description:As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:Experience providing speech-language assessments and interventions with children and youth. Experience working with a multidisciplinary team, participating in holistic assessment and treatment planning. Experience working with children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to develop therapeutic relationships and navigate sensitive situations. Initiative and ability to work independently in a clinical setting. Ability to create effective internal and external partnerships. Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in an environment of continuous change and learning. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
