You are a journalist who thrives in a deadline-driven, breaking news environment. You pitch original stories and relish the chance to tell stories of Montrealers making a difference in their community. You are comfortable shooting and editing your own material to produce packaged reports or to go live with the story. You love to try new ways of telling stories, and are equally comfortable talking to audiences through video content for all CBC platforms. You work well as part of a team and get satisfaction from group success and individual wins.Function :As a Video Journalist, you will shoot and edit footage, write copy, and produce live or packaged reports for all CBC video platforms and programs.Tasks :Keep up with current events by consulting a variety of sourcesForge and maintain contacts with various sourcesPropose and be assigned topics for news items, reports, interviews, and special featuresResearch, gather, evaluate and check all material on the story being coveredShoot, light, edit reports. Present them for broadcastDrive a news vehicleBe prepared to file for any CBC news platformSolid command of communication skills specific to the medium as well as interview techniquesQualifications :Bachelor’s degree or equivalentThree (3) years experience in journalism or an equivalent experience in media productionAwareness of what’s happening in the news in Canada and abroadGood knowledge of Quebec current eventsFluent in EnglishAbility to understand spoken and written FrenchKnowledge of video and editing techniquesValid driver’s licenseFamiliarity with CBC/Radio-CanadaPlease include a letter of interest detailing how your experience would be an asset to us, and tell us what contribution you’d like to make at CBC.
