Job Description: WORK MODEL: Hybrid – Three (3) days in office and two (2) days working remotely from home.***VERY IMPORTANT***

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technician or Technologist Program
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in industrial mechanical design
  • Proficient use of 2D and 3D AutoCAD software and CADWorx Plant experience is preferred
  • Experience in the consulting engineering sector
  • Steam and Power experience desirable
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • This position offers a hybrid work environment, in which you will work three (3) days in office and two (2) days working remotely, from your home office. You have the flexibility to work in office more than three days, if desired.

  • Support to Project Managers
  • Maintain Mechanical Design hour budget.
  • Follow project schedule to successfully complete project milestones on time.
  • Coordinate with, and support Engineers as required.
  • Coordinate with, and support Mechanical Designers, as required.
  • Coordinate with, and support Electrical Designers, as required.
  • Coordinate with, and support Sub-Consultants, as required.
  • Attend site visits as required to collect project information.
  • Attend regularly scheduled project meetings and provide progress updates to the team.
  • Run Internal and External 3D Model Reviews, as required in Navisworks Simulate
  • Adheres to company policy, practice and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality in regard to Company information and their clients as required by Privacy Legislation and the Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members
  • Creation/modification/review of the following drawings (following Company or Client standards):

o Process Flow Diagrams
o Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
o General Arrangement Layouts
o Tie Point Locations
o Instrumentation Locations
o Piping Layouts
o Piping Sections and Details
o Piping Isometrics
o Piping system Isometrics
o Pipe Support design & detailing
o Sketches
o Interdisciplinary review of Company drawings
o Review of Vendor Drawings
o Electrical Drawings, as required.
o Civil Drawings, as required.
o Structural Drawings, as required.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technician or Technologist
  • Experience in the consulting engineering sector
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in industrial piping and equipment layout
  • Knowledge of applicable codes & standards
  • Proficient use of 2D and 3D AutoCAD software and CADWorx Plant experience is required.
  • 3D modelling experience (without supervision) required.
  • Knowledge of Point Clouds and use in modelling.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks software
  • Experience with Caesar, AutoPIPE an asset
  • Steam and Power experience desirable

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Aligned with Company’s core values and culture
  • Support the Manager of Design Services with miscellaneous tasks including project requirements and corporate requirements.
  • Willingness to assist in setting/updating standards for the Design Services Department and always abide by them.
  • Willingness to share his/her experience and knowledge with fellow colleagues having different technical backgrounds.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to job sites and other third-party offices.
  • Occasional travel to home office for coordination purposes.
