Job Description: ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant to join our Site Investigation and Remediation technical team in Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB, Edmonton, AB, Whitehorse, YT, Toronto, ON, or Montreal, QC. The ideal candidate is an experienced consultant who can provide project management, strategic direction, and cutting-edge technical support to grow ERM’s Liabilities Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) and Transaction Services (TS) practices in Canada.As a senior practitioner, you will be fully accountable for successfully consulting on site investigation and remediation related projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM’s global technical team to share best practices across the industry.   • Lead, manage, and/or support a wide variety of contaminated sites and environmental due diligence projects (Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation programs, and hydrogeological investigations) related to oil and gas, mining, chemicals/pharmaceutical, manufacturing sectors and brownfield redevelopments.
  • Perform on-site due diligence assessments; with capability to assess EH&S risks in the field and interpret observations to present findings / recommendations.
  • Direct and develop complex site investigation, remediation, and construction projects with multi-discipline project teams. Oversee multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards are met on project deliverables. Ensure the work is compliant with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead or significantly oversee implementation of remedial solutions for contaminated soil, groundwater, sediment and vapor using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems.
  • Plan and oversee fieldwork, including investigation, pilot testing and remedial system construction oversight.
  • Expected project delivery activities include data management, analysis and interpretation, and report preparation. Provide oversight and quality control for data collection, management, reduction and analysis.
  • Direct and monitor project management activities related to projects, including task delegation and direction, subcontractor management, health & safety protocol management, monitoring of commercial performance, quality review of deliverables, and interaction with clients.
  • Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute projects. Participate on teams composed of multi-disciplinary professionals from multiple offices around the global ERM organization.
  • Mentor junior-level and mid-level consulting staff to develop their skill sets including technical skills, project and field experience, and general consulting and decision-making skills.
  • Take an active role in developing and maintaining client relationships to support new and repeat business.
  • Work with other global ERM resources to deepen relationships with ERM key clients to expand ERM’s profile and market share in the global LPMR market (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development support).
  • Develop a working understanding of ERM’s other consulting service areas and actively support cross-selling other services to existing clients.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related discipline.
  • Professional registration (P. Eng. or P. Geo.) is an asset.
  • 5+ years of relevant site investigation/remediation experience, including environmental consulting and project management experience.
  • Qualified Person who is able to sign off on remediation and reclamation work in ON, BC, SK, AB or YT is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian contaminated site regulations an asset.
  • Experienced with a variety of site investigation methods and remedial technologies.
  • Demonstrated project management and technical skills.
  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, time management, attention to detail, organization, and “people” skills.
  • Aptitude for business development activities and experienced managing and developing client relationships.
  • Able to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to leverage previous project and field experience to develop adaptive management and mitigation strategies for project related problems.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols and demonstrated experience with subsurface clearance safety procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Bilingual in French/English is an asset.
