Job Description: Job Title: Embedded DeveloperJob DescriptionOur client in Ottawa provides rugged embedded computing solutions that process data in real-time to support mission-critical functions, in the air, on the ground, and at sea. The engineering team develops single board computers, graphics, and Ethernet Switching solutions for military programs. The manufacturing team produces all the electronics components. The Software team runs firmware & VxWorks 6.9 and 7 on rugged single board computers for DND. They have two products: one existing and one new. The task involves porting the existing BSP (board support package) for VxWorks 6.9 and 7 to the new boards, creating new build targets, modifying and porting drivers, and conducting testing. This project starts from the beginning phases of development, including setting up requirements, creating release plans, and executing release activities. The Software Lead will oversee all activities, and the Embedded Developer will be responsible for their development tasks and managing priorities and schedules with oversight from the Lead.Hard Skills

• 5+ years of embedded development
• Embedded C
• Device driver
• VxWorks 6.9 or 7
• Engineer, Design, Develop and Test new embedded products
• Support and enhance existing embedded software
• Analyze requirements, research and identify solutions
• Conduct architecture, design, and code reviews
• Reading and understanding IC datasheets, register descriptions, and board schematics

Soft Skills

• Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement
• Provide input to architecture and design reviews
• Evaluate new technologies and products
• Keep current with embedded software trends and share knowledge
• Participate in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere within the team

Job TypeThis is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in NA, Ontario and some days remote.Work EnvironmentPrefers to have employees on-site but there is possible flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. There are 16 engineers on-site in Ottawa within the SW team. They work in cubicles and collaborate a lot with the electrical engineers who sit close to them. The lab is just around their cubicles, providing access to the hardware. There is a weekly team meeting to review progress on projects. The SW Team Lead oversees the activities for the team.
