Title of the Job: Storage Strategy and Roadmap Development

Location: Vancouver, BC

Job Description: Duration: 7 Months Contract with Possibility of Extension
Location: Vancouver, BCServices Required:This Statement of Work is looking to engage a Service Provider that will bring the requisite resources with the required experiences, skills, and knowledge to deliver the services and deliverables outlined below.
The consulting services required include but are not limited to:

  • Inventory Existing Systems: Compile a detailed inventory of all current storage systems, including hardware and software.
  • Utilization Analysis: Assess current storage capacities, utilization rates, and performance metrics.
  • System Review: Identify underutilized, overutilized and redundant storage resources.

Determine Business Requirements and Objectives

  • Business Goals: Working with internal PHSA Technology leadership, define overarching business goals such as cost reduction, scalability, and improved performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Working with internal PHSA Technology leadership, identify any regulatory and compliance requirements that must be met.
  • Identify Gaps Between Current Solutions and Future Business Objectives

Current vs. Future State: Compare current storage solutions with future business needs and objectives.
Gap Analysis: Identify .

  • Ensure consideration of potentially new disruptive technologies – 3D Scanning for example
  • Analyze, forecast and document how Cloud adoption could impact and influence storage and backup technologies and deployments.
  • Incorporate low (5%), medium (10%), and High (20%) annual Cloud adoptions into the forecasting model.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess the risks associated with the identified gaps.
  • Assess Storage Vendor and Cloud Service Provider Capabilities
  • Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate existing and potential storage vendors’ and cloud service providers’ solutions based on features, costs, reliability, and support.
  • Security and Compliance: Assess the security, compliance, and data residency options offered by each provider.
  • Service Level Agreements: Review SLAs and support offerings to ensure they meet business requirements.
  • Match Gaps to Vendor/Cloud Capabilities
  • Capability Mapping: Map identified gaps to the capabilities offered by selected vendors and cloud service providers.
  • Solution Fit: Ensure that vendor and cloud solutions align with business objectives and requirements.
  • Prioritize Gaps
  • Criticality Assessment: Assess the criticality of each gap in terms of business impact and urgency.
  • Priority Ranking: Rank gaps based on their importance and the potential benefits of addressing them.
  • Stakeholder Input: Gather input from key stakeholders to validate priorities.
  • Outline a Comprehensive Storage Strategy to Address Gaps
  • Strategy Planning: Formulate a comprehensive storage strategy that addresses current and future needs.
  • Strategic Goals: Align the storage strategy goals with business objectives and requirements.
  • Map Vendor and Cloud Capabilities: Align the identified gaps with the capabilities offered by selected storage vendors and cloud service providers.
  • Priority Ranking: Rank gaps and solutions based on their importance and the potential benefits of addressing them.
  • Roadmap Development
  • Roadmap Creation: Create detailed roadmaps outlining the steps and timelines required to implement the storage strategy successfully.
  • Phased Approach: Organize activities into phases to manage workload and dependencies effectively.
  • Resourcing Allocation: Identify the necessary resources (personnel, tools, budget) required for each activity.
  • Timelines and Milestones: Define key milestones and timelines for each deliverable in each phase of the roadmap.

Deliverables:
The following deliverables should either be completed as part of this engagement or be defined within a conceptual roadmap of future actionable projects, each including estimated budget, timelines, and key deliverables:

  • A comprehensive, Executive consumable storage strategy and roadmap(s) that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Current system inventory: Detailed inventory of hardware, software, current storage capacities, utilization rates, performance metrics, and identification of underutilized, overutilized, and redundant storage resources.
  • Business objectives and compliance requirements: Listing of business objectives and compliance requirements defined in collaboration with PHSA Technology leadership.
  • Gap analysis: Comprehensive report detailing gaps in capabilities, performance, scalability, security, and compliance between current systems and identified business and compliance requirements. Includes assessment and ranking of gaps based on business impact, urgency, potential benefits, and risks assessment.
  • Vendor and cloud service evaluation: Detailed evaluation of existing and potential storage vendor and cloud service provider solution capabilities to address identified gaps. Include security, compliance, data residency options, fit, features, costs, reliability, and support.
  • Comprehensive storage strategy: A comprehensive storage strategy in the form of a detailed plan addressing each identified gap, aligned with the strategic goals. Include the mapping the gaps to capabilities offered by selected storage vendors and cloud provider.
  • Implementation roadmaps: Recommended roadmap of activities to address each gap through vendor and cloud provider solutions. Identify the resources (personnel, tools, budget) for each activity. Establish timelines, key milestones, and deliverables for each phase. Organize activities into phases to manage workload and dependencies effectively.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the client and the service provider are outlined as follows:

  • Client Responsibilities:
  • Provide necessary access to existing IT systems, infrastructure, and personnel.
  • Collaborate with the service provider in requirements gathering and decision-making processes.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and user acceptance development activities.
  • Allocate resources for training sessions and knowledge transfer plans.
  • Service Provider Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessment of current Storage systems and processes.
  • Develop modernization strategy and implementation plan.
  • Develop a roadmap to Implement, configure, and customize solutions supporting Storage Services requirements.
  • Provide documentation and training materials.
  • Build testing, validation, and user acceptance activities plans.
  • Ensure timely communication and reporting on project progress.
  • Specific Qualifications or Experience Required:
  • Extensive experience in strategy and technology roadmap development.
  • Specialized knowledge in IT storage services, data classification, security measures, compliance, and financial forecasting. Proficiency with relevant technologies.
  • Preference will be given to Service Providers with
  • Proven track records of successfully delivering similar scope of work as described in this SoW
  • A multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts in the areas of discipline described in this SoW to support where and when needed.
