The successful candidate will have the following:Aged 16 or olderInterest in working with childrenStrong communication and teamwork skillsPrevious Day Camp or related experience preferredCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certified within 12 monthsEvidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within 12 monthsThree professional referencesAvailable evenings and weekends in June, 2024 for trainingAvailable full-time from July through August, weekdaysExperience in any of the following would be an additional asset:Visual arts, drama, dance, photography, swim, basketball, skatingWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include:Provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for children registered in YMCA Calgary Day CampsProvide proactive supervision and facilitate daily activitiesWork alongside and collaborate with other Day Camp staff including Day Camp Coordinator, Supervisor, and Specialty Camp Instructors.Plan and implement all aspects of the daily schedule within the provided curriculum, including arts and crafts, active group activities and sports including physical literacy activities, traditional day camp games and other engaging activities, while encouraging camper participationEnter the pool daily and engage in pool activities with campersSupervise weekly field trips off-siteDemonstrate and role model positive behavior when working with other staff, campers and membersFollow YMCA Calgary Policies and ProceduresProvide first aid when requiredGreet parents/guardians and campers on arrival and departure from camp.
