Job Description: Job Description:HM Note: This hybrid role is three (3) days in officeDescription:We are looking to hire a Senior Business Intelligence specialist who is very experienced with architecting, building and deploying enterprise scale Business Intelligence solutions using Power BI. Leveraging their experience, they are expected to help OH develop Power BI governance framework, associated SDLC processes, best practices and outline roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in the context of a Hub and Spoke enterprise model. They are also expected to develop proof-of-concepts and final versions of proposed solutions.Must haves:

  • Expert technical understanding of evolving Power BI and Microsoft Fabric capabilities as well as limitations and ability to propose governance around it in the context of hub-and-spoke model.
  • Experience with outlining policy, processes and standard operating procedures related to Power BI projects in the context of hub-and-spoke model
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Power BI Desktop, Microsoft Power BI Dataflows, Microsoft Power BI Report Builder, Microsoft Power Automate, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio and VertiPaq Analyzer
  • Proficient in DAX, M, Power Query, SQL and performance optimization
  • Experience in developing and implementing Power BI solutions. This includes data modelling, designing, development and testing of reports.
  • Experience in implementing security and have an understanding of application security layer model in Power BI
  • Experience with analyzing data in source systems to identify data cleanliness issues (e.g. missing values, duplicate meanings, and invalid data)
  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. business, logical, and physical models) based on Enterprise Application Processes and Modeling methodology and guidelines
  • Hands on experience working with stakeholders to develop and document interface specifications design between Business Intelligence solutions and external applications
  • Extensive experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modelling tools

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including management, business and IT
  • Ability to lead, participate and deliver Power BI projects
  • Participate and lead functional and technical specification reviews
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise for BI applications to other team members
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Define roles and responsibilities of Hub and spoke teams to support process, documentation and approvals
  • Clear list of required processes with supporting documentation, and approval processes from hub and spoke teams, especially for PHI data with Power BI
  • Critical documentation templates to support development, validation and deployment
  • Power BI Workspace Management including creation, administration and decommissioning.
  • Consider PHI and non-PHI Power BI solutions being developed, validated and deployed (embedded) to portals.
  • Sourcing data from Analytics Data Hub (ADH – Azure Synapse) and excel sources hosted on restricted folders (R:\drive)
  • Access management to Power BI zones/environments (Dev/Validation/Production)
  • Power BI product and operations management plan

From a Power BI solution development perspective:

  • Work with the business to understand a business problem, define reporting requirements and translate them into Power BI solutions and reporting deliverables that can be embedded to the portals
  • Translate business and data requirements into specifications sufficient for designing appropriate technology solutions, including Power BI
  • Recommend data aggregation approaches to enable aggregate reporting using record level data
  • Designing high quality interfaces to present information in a meaningful way to end users e.g. ability to create wireframes, prototypes and Proof-of-concepts
  • Develop best practices and standards related to Power BI
  • Convey information in a clear, comprehensive, concise and organized manner verbally and through formal documentation

Knowledge Transfer Details:

  • The Candidate will ensure full knowledge transfer of all technical and process related work is provided to the Ontario Health team during and before end of engagement. Some of this might occur during and at the end of the engagement but will also be shared as information is obtained/consolidated. Key deliverables will be shared with team, using an approved format.
  • The Candidate must provide all related documentation as part of Knowledge transfer protocol. Documents will be reviewed by the appropriate leads and signed off by manager/director.
  • The candidate will work collaboratively with Ontario Health team throughout the assignment and ensure key deliverables, milestones, and documentation are shared during and at the end of the engagement.
  • A walkthrough of any demos, development, etc. will be required during and before end of engagement, as required.

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years’ experience with Power BI as well as Microsoft Fabric experience in a hub-and-spoke model.
  • 2+ years’ experience with outlining policy, processes, and standard operating procedures related to Power BI projects in the context of hub-and-spoke model.
  • 5+ years’ experience with any of the following: MS Power BI Desktop, MS Power BI Dataflows, MS Power BI Report Builder, MS Power Automate, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and VertiPaq Analyzer
