Job Description: Job Title: Design EngineerJob DescriptionPerform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, etc. in the development of equipment, processes, and products. Produce concepts, working drawings, detail drawings, and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies, or products, using AutoCAD and Solid Works. Analyze designs and systems for compliance with applicable standards (i.e., OSHA, CE, or customer-specific). Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc. Liaise with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff. Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications. Communicate all requested design changes to the Project Lead or Team Lead. Responsible for communicating progress on tasks to the supervising designer. Formalize and update drawing documentation. Periodically supervise the mechanical design effort on a project level, delegating tasks to a team of people. Organize documentation, including quotes, project plans, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc. on projects you are supervising. Responsible for communicating time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to the Team Lead or Project Lead.Hard Skills

Job TypeThis is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Cambridge, Ontario and some days remote.Work EnvironmentOffice work environment with a business casual dress code (collared shirt, dress pants, etc.). Design team size is up to 60+ designers, broken into smaller teams ranging from 2-6 people. Work hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with flexible start and finish times.
