Job Description: Job Description:HM Note: This remote role requires that the contractor must work within Canada for data security reasons and attend any scheduled onsite meetings in Victoria BC at manager’s discretion. All profiles must be a maximum of two (2) pages and include a minimum of two (2) business references for applicable projects and the project commences September 16, 2024Description:The ServiceNow Senior Functional Consultant – CSDM & CMDB will support the design and implementation of the Common Services Data Model for Service Management Branch. The work will include supporting the Senior ServiceNow Technical Architect and the Senior ServiceNow Functional Architect in their analysis of the platform solutions and the roadmap to a target state architecture. The ServiceNow Senior Functional Consultant – CSDM & CMDB will be responsible for:Client Engagement:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and current service management processes.
- Conduct workshops and meetings to gather detailed requirements and objectives for CSDM implementation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the CSDM implementation project.
CSDM Implementation:
- Assess the client’s current ServiceNow configuration and data models.
- Design and implement the CSDM framework in alignment with client requirements and ServiceNow best practices.
- Map existing data and processes to the CSDM structure to ensure comprehensive and accurate data representation.
- Configure and customize the ServiceNow platform to support CSDM, including creating and modifying CMDB (Configuration Management Database) tables, relationships, and dependencies.
CMDB Implementation and Remediation:
- Assess Current Configuration and Data Models:
o Evaluate the client’s existing ServiceNow configuration, CMDB structure, and data models to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.
- Design and Implement CMDB Framework:
o Develop and implement a CMDB framework aligned with client requirements and ServiceNow best practices, focusing on data accuracy and integrity.o Map existing configuration data and processes to leading practices to ensure comprehensive and accurate CMDB management across the organization.
- Configure and Customize ServiceNow Platform:
o Configure and customize the ServiceNow platform to support CMDB health, including creating remediation tasks and dashboards that align with best practices.o Implement solutions that automate remediation efforts, reducing manual interventions and maintaining a clean and accurate CMDB.Process Improvement and Best Practices:
- Identify opportunities to improve service management processes through the adoption of CSDM.
- Provide guidance on CSDM best practices and ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Develop and document procedures and guidelines for maintaining the CSDM within the client’s ServiceNow environment.
Training and Knowledge Transfer:
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for client stakeholders and users.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to ensure the client’s team can effectively manage and maintain the CSDM.
- Provide ongoing support and mentoring to client staff as needed.
Project Management and Reporting:
- Work with project managers to create project plans, timelines, and deliverables for CSDM implementation.
- Track progress against project milestones and provide regular status updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and manage risks and issues related to CSDM implementation, ensuring timely resolution.
Architecture Review and Future State Design:
- Leverage the existing architectural review reports and, in conjunction with the architectural team, conduct a thorough analysis of the current ServiceNow solution architecture.
- Support the design and documentation of a target state architecture that aligns with best practices and organizational goals.
- Support the documentation of technical debt and develop strategies to eliminate it.
- Support the creation of a roadmap of initiatives to transition from the current state to the future state.
Consultant QualificationsThe ServiceNow Senior Functional Consultant – CSDM/CMDB is required to have the following skills and experience:
- Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience & Skills:
o Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in service management, with a focus on the ServiceNow platform.o Strong understanding of ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITOM, ITAM.o Proven experience implementing the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).o Fulsome understanding of the ServiceNow CMDB. o Strong data management/analysis skills and experience with the CMDB data model.o Experience in implementing CMBD health dashboards, processes, and remediation tasks.o Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.o Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.o Familiarity with ITIL and other IT service management frameworkso Experience in data modeling and database management
- Certifications:
o ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – preferred
