Position Number: 00050237Description:About us:The Enterprise Academic, Research & Collaborative Technologies (ARC) group is a partnership between the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) division and the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI).ARC is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, operation, maintenance and effectiveness of core teaching and learning systems and enterprise collaborative technologies at U of T. Included within these responsibilities are the academic toolbox (the learning management system and associated applications), web hosting services (CMS), collaborative applications (i.e., MS Teams), enterprise video-mediated applications (i.e. Zoom), and generative artificial intelligence solutions (i.e. Copilot). This responsibility includes vendor relationship management with both for-profit suppliers as well as non-profit and consortium partners. ARC also serves as the main connector between the CIO’s portfolio and library technology services.The Chief Information Officer (CIO) portfolio, operating as Information Technology Services (ITS), is home to over 200 IT professionals who provide University-wide IT services and systems to enable University of Toronto (U of T) to maintain its status as Canada’s leading institution of learning, discovery and knowledge creation. From direct support to enterprise-grade academic and administrative applications (student, financial, HR and research) to online learning, information security, collaboration tools and network infrastructure, our work enables U of T’s steadfast commitment to being an internationally significant research university with excellent undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.Your opportunity:Reporting to the Director of ARC and working very closely with the ARC Assistant Director and other managers, staff and external partners, among other standard project management activities, the successful incumbent will develop overall project designs, charter, scopes, resources and schedule for project(s). Plan and implement project phases and liaise with management to determine goals and priorities. Develop or modify project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines. Develop and maintain project quality control standards. Build and strengthen relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance. Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making, etc.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing overall project design for multiple simultaneous projects
  • Developing charter, scope, resources and schedule for project(s)
  • Planning and implementing project phases
  • Liaising with management to determine goals and priorities
  • Developing or modifying project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
  • Developing component of program/project that supports collaboration and partnerships

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Six to seven years of applicable experience
  • Highly experienced with all phases of the project management life cycle.
  • Highly experienced with requirements gathering and scope management
  • Highly experienced with project communications, including regular progress reporting
  • Highly familiar with best practices regarding project documentation including creation, storage and dissemination of project artifacts
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Familiar with common project management and task tracking tools and software
  • Experienced and comfortable with presenting to groups such as project sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Excellent vendor management skills

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Familiar with the University of Toronto and the Higher Education field generally
  • Some familiarity with common educational software tools as used in Higher Education
  • Some familiarity with procurement management
  • Current holder, or actively working towards PMP, CAPM or similar professional designation
