For more information, visit .Role ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives and Business Services, as part of a team, the Manager, Business Continuity & Emergency Response Planning co-leads the department’s Emergency Management Program and associated designated roles. The incumbent will lead the continuous improvement and maintenance of the ministry’s Business Continuity Program and Facility Emergency Response Program (FERP). The incumbent co-leads ministry’s Consequence Management and Security Programs with the Manager, Consequence Management and Security.This role ensures the ministry is compliant with GoA policies and that ministry plans are current and complete, tested, and executed in an efficient and timely manner. This position also plays a key role in liaising with Federal and Provincial partners to coordinate disaster financial assistance and disaster recovery programs.As the Manager, Business Continuity & Emergency Response Planning, the incumbent will have a role in planning, mitigating, responding to, and coordinating the department’s response to various incidents and play a lead role in coordinating the department’s response to business continuity incidents. As emergencies and disasters are capable of occurring on a 24/7, 365 days a year the incumbent may be placed on standby and/or expected to work extended hours including some weekends and holidays.The Manager, Business Continuity & Emergency Response Planning will be accountable for the continuous improvement and maintenance of Business Continuity and Facility Emergency Response Plans to ensure the delivery of ministry’s functions and services in the event of a service disruption or disaster. The incumbent will contribute to the development and execution of a variety of training and information initiatives to ministry staff for awareness of their roles and responsibilities when incidents occur.Knowledge of facilities and occupational health and safety will assist the incumbent in developing, implementing, and maintaining the ministry’s Facility Emergency Response Planning Program (FEPP) to assist with the safety and health of government staff, other designated facility occupants and the public.Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively and transparently with the other manager and team members are imperative.Strong conceptual and analytical thinking, system thinking and exceptional written, verbal, and organizational skills will enable the incumbent to develop effective business continuity project plans and programs. - University Degree in related field such as Disaster & Emergency Management, Emergency Management, Emergency & Security Management, Crisis Communications, Emergency Management Exercise Design, Occupational Health & Safety.
- minimum of four (4) years of progressively related work experience in business continuity planning or emergency management
Required Training:
- Incident Command System Level 300
Preference will be given to candidates that have:
- Incident Command System Train the Trainer 200
- Incident Command System level 400
- Leadership and management experience
- Experience designing, facilitating, exercising and implementing a variety of plans (Consequence Management, Business Continuity, Security, Facility Emergency Response Plans, Crisis Management / Communication, etc.)
Equivalencies maybe considered – directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Assets:
- Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRI) Business Continuity Certification (i.e. ABCP)
- AckNet Training
- ICS 400
- HIRA knowledge
- Advanced SharePoint, Teams, Excel skills
