Job Description: Convergint is looking for a full-time, team-oriented, results-driven 1st Year Apprentice Plumber to join our amazing culture. As a 1st year Apprentice Plumber, you will be responsible for servicing and supporting existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs and small projects of a less complex nature. You will ensure projects are effectively executed within time schedules. You will also plan, install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls. In addition, position is key interface with the customer and responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction on all assigned projects. You are an individual who is interested in professional growth and development. - Responds to routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency service calls on a timely basis; will diagnose, troubleshoot and repair for routine problems. Uses developing troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems.
- Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs
- Repair or replace piping, valves and other components using hand tools and power tools
- Completes accurate and detailed service reports for Customer and Convergint to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking
- Proactively communicates project requirements to project team and wider organization as and when required, and maintains accurate and up to date records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records necessary for processing of internal and external reports.
- Proactively seeks technical guidance from more experienced staff
- Executes all work in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Communicates with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company.
- Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
- Keeps up to date and informed of company products, services and policies
- Presents a professional image of Convergint at all times in appearance and behavior
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
- Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to determine the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Developing technical skills and experience related to plumbing installations and service.
- Must be a self-starter and work well with direct supervision.
- Developing mechanical aptitude.
- Shows initiative – regularly engages in proactive behavior and looks for opportunities
- Extremely adaptable – responds effectively to changes in situation or information; ability to influence others and build consensus using good written and verbal communication skills
- Develop analytical skills necessary to resolve problems and look for solutions
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook)
- A valid driver’s license with a clean abstract is required
- Must arrive at work on time and ready to work based on the needs of the business.
- Travel to jobsites is required. There may be occasional overnight travel.
- Basic organizational skills and the ability to keep tools and work area tidy.
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of previous commercial Plumbing experience required
