Working for Pembina means working safely.Overview:Our Gas Services Business Unit, part of Pembina’s Facilities Division, is looking for a Process Engineer to join the team. The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts. You will be a direct contributor to the ongoing development of Pembina’s gas services business strategy.Reporting to the Supervisor, Process Engineering, the Process Engineer will be responsible for providing technical process engineering support and guidance to the GBU operations teams. The Process Engineer will perform advanced process engineering problem solving in support of day to day operations of GBU’s gas processing facilities. Engineering activities include troubleshooting operational issues, root-cause analysis of failures and upsets, and design and implementation of optimization projects. The Process Engineer will routinely work with Operations, Maintenance, Commercial and Purchasing Staff requiring extensive people management skills.Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and problem-solving support;
  • Provide expertise and analysis in support of process hazard analyses (HAZID/ What-If, HAZOP, LOPA);
  • Develop and refine process simulation models (HYSYS or ProMax) for each GBU facility;
  • Perform sizing calculations for equipment, control valves and PSVs;
  • Utilize process simulation tools to recommend operating points, identify equipment degradation and evaluate new projects;
  • Evaluate off-normal operating modes for safe and efficient operation;
  • Lead and manage process studies to evaluate plant improvements or debottleneck opportunities;
  • Provide technical review of proposed plant changes in support of Management of Change (MOC) process;
  • Coordinate and implement plant and major equipment monitoring programs;
  • Propose new revenue-generating or cost-saving projects for plant optimization;
  • Review engineering documents prepared by EPC consultants, contractors, and suppliers;
  • Collaborate with process engineers from other business and service units to share lessons learned and best practices;

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering as well as a P.Eng with APEGA is required;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in midstream gas processing, NGL fractionation or refining;
  • Knowledge and experience using process simulation software such as HYSYS or ProMax;
  • Knowledge base of maintenance, process, operations, purchasing, warehouse, safety, environmental and project engineering skills;
  • Demonstrated character and understanding of occupational and process safety;
  • Valid Driver’s license required;
  • Must possess good communication and problem-solving skills, ability to articulate ideas, be detail oriented, and be comfortable dealing with associates at all levels within the organization; and
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, report writing and verbal communication skills along with presentation capabilities.
