Job Description: Transdev Canada is hiring a Facilities Manager in Victoria!Transdev is committed to enhancing the quality of life by offering innovative and sustainable transportation options. HandyDART is a community-based transportation service designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. As part of our growth, we are opening a new office in Victoria BC spring of 2025, and we are seeking a dedicated Facilities Manager to oversee both this new location and our existing Cowichan Valley facility to start October 2024.As a Facilities Manager at Transdev Canada in Victoria and Duncan, you will be a key player in overseeing and managing the new facility, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the new site. This role involves leadership, operational optimization, and regulatory compliance.Your roleFacility Safety & Compliance
- Promote a safe work environment, conducting regular safety inspections, toolbox meetings, and ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Address and report safety concerns, ensure tools and equipment are in good condition, and oversee the lock out/tag out process.
- Correct or make safe all safety concerns brough up by staff, ensure all major observations are reported to the General Manager.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Liaise with contractors and service providers to ensure timely, cost-effective services for both locations.
- Analyze contractor submissions for price, qualification & technical review, availability and sustainability, and manage vendor relationships, especially for large projects.
Security & Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement security policies, manage security systems, and ensure employee and visitor safety.
- Create and maintain emergency response plans, conducting regular drills at both facilities.
Budget & Space Management
- Prepare and manage the facilities budget, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with department heads for effective space planning and future space needs.
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Oversee the maintenance of the Victoria and Cowichan Valley facility, including HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and general upkeep.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and environmental inspections.
Staff & Shop Supervision and Safety
- Supervise maintenance staff, manage schedules, and assist with hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
- Manage work orders, warranty processes, and safety practices for vehicles and facilities.
Technology & Communication
- Oversee, manage and monitor facility and vehicle-related technology, including HVAC, fueling systems, and maintenance monitoring systems.
- Maintain clear communication with our client, Transdev leadership, contractors, and vendors.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and facilities management software.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to travel between the two locations as required.
