As First Class Mechanic, you will inspect, maintain, repair, Forklifts/Lift Trucks in a safe matter, taking safety as the number one priority.Job Responsibilities– Perform minor and major repairs, and scheduled preventive maintenance on Forklifts/Lift Trucks.– Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures, operate computers which control and monitor mechanical equipment.– Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required, perform assignments in general maintenance such as: changing batteries in the industrial lift equipment or building maintenance duties, house keeping, filing, and other general duties at our Distribution Centres.Qualifications– You will provide your own basic tools of the trade and safety shoes.– Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic skills – working with hands, and power tools.– Hold a current and valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification, recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario; Automotive Service Tech, or Truck and Coach Tech, or Powered Lift Truck Tech.– Good communication skills – read, write and speak English.– 3 – 5 years trades experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.– Flexibility to work on various shifts (days, afternoons and nights) and weekends is a must, and all other assigned duties.Metro values, respects and leverages the differences and competences of all employees from a variety of different backgrounds.
