Title of the Job: Duty Manager, Regional Control Centre

Location: Dorval, QC – Montreal, QC

Job Description: The Duty Manager – Regional Control Centre (RCC) is responsible for overseeing the Regional Control Centre (RCC), ensuring the effective and efficient management of all operational aspects within the RCC. This role involves the direct management of RCC Operators, optimizing operational workflows, and maintaining compliance with safety and security standards. The Duty Manager – RCC acts as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, managing both routine and emergency operational needs effectively. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to maintain high levels of operational performance and reliability.Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the RCC, including data reconciliation between various operational sources.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of RCC Operators, providing training and development opportunities to ensure a highly skilled workforce.
  • Lead emergency response situations, by initiating protocols and leading the coordination efforts during critical incidents as well as coordinating with internal and external agencies to manage and mitigate incidents,
  • Facilitate communication between the RCC and other departments, enhancing cooperation and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and oversee the CCTV operations within the RCC, proactive monitoring of footage.
  • Generate and review operational reports, using data to drive decisions and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Engage in airport workforce planning activities, such as real-time attendance monitoring, to ensure full operational coverage in our airports.
  • Responsible for workforce planning within the RCC, including scheduling, monitoring absenteeism, and developing contingency staffing plans.
  • Prepare regular management briefings to update on passenger loads, operational challenges, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary diploma or degree in business management or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience as a manager, including overseeing a team
  • Preference will be given to individuals with experience in the aviation industry.
  • Established in creating and executing action plans to achieve goals.
  • Excellent conflict management skills. Has a proven ability to help others through emotional or tense situations, tend to disagreements diplomatically, and collaboratively define solutions that everyone can support.
  • Experience and track record leading, motivating, and coaching people. Strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to support 24/7 operation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
  • Strong understanding of legal requirements and responsibilities in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card) and Transport Canada Clearance.

  • Strategic Input – Liaison with top management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.
  • Workforce Planning – Monitor performance and implement improvements. Manage employee and team productivity. Provide technical support where necessary.
  • Communication – Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, Accounts and Finance. Facilitate coordination and communication between support function.

Working conditions

  • Exposed to situations that would be considered stressful, requiring application of stress tolerance.
  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to – standing; lifting; bending, stooping, kneeling.
  • Ability to mentally focus and concentrate for prolonged periods.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable daily.
  • Work near others. They often share the same workspace and work with other incumbents holding the same position.
  • Work on a set schedule can be altered frequently, resulting in schedule changes.
  • Overtime can be controlled but may be required dependent on operational requirements.
